The group was created by ShowBT Philippines, a subsidiary of a Korean entertainment company, with the aim of localizing K-pop-inspired training and promotion while emphasizing Filipino culture and language in their music.
BINI: is an eight-member Filipino girl group formed by ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy in 2019, consisting of Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena. The name comes from the Tagalog word “binibini,” meaning “young lady,” reflecting their vision of embodying the modern Filipina—sweet, fierce, independent, and informed.
